LEAD Students

LEAD Program in Business at Tuck

Every year, Tuck hosts a three-week, summer program for high school students as part of the national LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) initiative. The program was created to encourage bright, motivated students to consider pursuing a career in business by providing them with a positive experience in a B-school environment and by giving them information to help build their own road map to success.

With committed sponsorship by both business and academia, the program has proven to be a powerful, motivating force in helping students discover their own leadership skills. In learning about the key areas of business, students are more easily able to envision future roles for themselves in the commercial world. The experiential nature of the program broadens students' horizons and enables its graduates to make well-informed educational and career choices when faced with the myriad options presented to talented individuals.

What Tuck offers LEAD students:

  • A sound, general introduction to key areas of business
  • Information about what kinds of jobs exist in the commercial world
  • The chance to have direct contact with business people in an informal atmosphere
  • The opportunity to work in a team and try out problem-solving skills on real-world business issues
  • A positive experience with others of the same age in a rural setting, with time and space to consider the future

After completing the summer program, LEAD graduates often receive support through college and beyond. The organization can put students in touch with mentors and assist them in finding internships and permanent jobs. LEAD helps students access their own potential for success and provides a stepping-stone to future business education and careers.
