It's finals week, which means the students have been busy at work preparing for exams. So we leave them alone and go find our own fun
This past weekend actually had gorgeous weather (sunny blue skies and low 40s in Hanover on Sunday!), so a few partners and I decided to drive out to Killington to pick up our season passes.* We figured the trip was worth it (about 50min driving each way) just to have the passes in hand when we finally get some good snow. Fortunately, there was enough fake snow to get in the first few runs of the season!
*Tuck students and partners both get huge discounts at Killington mountain for unliited season passes (good for skiing any day all season, plus 10 or 15% (can't remember exactly) off lodge food and non-alcoholic beverages). The unlimited season pass is almost 80% off for students and over 60% off for partners (bummer that it's not as good a bargain for TPs, though I understand, and it is still an incredible deal).
The discount is yet another huge perk of being a Tuck Partner, plus it's a great incentive to get seasoned and new skiers alike out and enjoying the beauty of NH and VT in the wintertime. There are even discounted rates for lessons for newcomers. It takes all the pressure out of skiing/snowboarding: no more waking up at 5am to be on the mountain right when lifts open, or feeling obligated to stay the entire day just to get your money's worth. This weekend we woke up slow, left Hanover around 11:30, stopped for coffee and a tune-up, skiied some runs, had lunch, and made it back home by 4:30 (in time for the Tiny Tuckies holiday party and dinner for students and partners courtesy of the MBAPO -- next post!) Great day.
