Barris Incubator Program
The Barris Incubator space was funded through a generous gift of Peter Barris T'77, Tuck alumnus and Private Equity Center advisory board member. Run by the Entrepreneurship Initiative (EI) at Tuck, in partnership with the Thayer School of Engineering, the program supports and facilitates the launch and development of Tuck and Dartmouth-related ventures led by students.
The Barris incubator is a Tuck and Thayer joint program within Dartmouth’s campus-wide incubator system. The program particularly draws on the expertise of Tuck and Thayer recognized faculty and graduate entrepreneurs, who are involved in the incubator's processes and who advise entrepreneurial‐minded students on selected projects. The incubator offers students entrepreneurial guidance and support, access to experts in key areas, and opportunities to present business concepts to regional investors and investors among the greater Dartmouth alumni community.
Both the EI and the Thayer school provide financial support and advisory services to incubator teams; the Barris Program also provides teams with suitable working space. Each year, teams apply for access to the incubator program. Admitted teams have ambitious entrepreneurial plans and demonstrate high commitment to both learning and executing on their ideas.
The Barris incubator is integrated with the DEN campus-wide incubator system, in which all teams from across campus share a programmatic curriculum and have access to all campus-wide resources.
