Charles Harvey

Visiting Faculty

Charles Harvey is professor of strategy and international business and dean of the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland. His areas of expertise include strategy, leadership, and organizational analysis.

Background

Professor Harvey is chairman of Sinfonia Management Systems, a director of the U.K. Academy of Enterprise, and editor of the academic journal Business History. He is a visiting professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China's premier university.

Professor Harvey is well-known across Europe and Asia-Pacific for his work in the field of executive education. He currently leads the Business Leader Programme for IBM in the U.K. Other organizations with whom he has worked closely in recent years include Airbus UK, JP Morgan-Fleming, J Sainsbury, and Bombardier Transportation.

Professor Harvey is one of the developers of a powerful set of tools and techniques for creative strategy development. The Sinfonia system has found favor with top teams in many organizations, large and small, private and public, national and international. The tools and techniques at the core of the system form the central point of reference for his Tuck Executive Education course.

Professor Harvey underpins his teaching and consultancy activities with extensive research on strategy, leadership, and organizational analysis. He publishes frequently in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Management Studies<, Organization Studies, and Human Relations. His latest book, Breakout Strategy, is in progress, co-authored with Tuck's Sydney Finkelstein and with Thomas Lawton.
