J. Brian Quinn Professor in Technology and Strategy

Constance Helfat's research focuses on firm capabilities and knowledge, with particular attention to technological innovation and adaptation and change of firm capabilities over time.

Current research Topics

In addition to her research on firm capabilities and knowledge, Professor Helfat has conducted research on corporate executives, boards of directors, human capital, and job responsibilities of female executives as compared with male executives in major U.S. corporations.

Phi Beta Kappa; The Wharton School MBA Excellence in Teaching Award, 1994.

Publications

Professor Helfat has published articles in many journals, including Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Management Science, Managerial and Decision Economics, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal,and The Journal of Industrial Economics.

Professor Helfat is an associate editor for Management Science. She also serves on the editorial board for Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategic Organization.

Background

Prior to joining the faculty at Tuck, Professor Helfat was an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Management, University of California/Davis; at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; and at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
