Global Business Perspectives: Diederik…
Dartmouth Associate Professor of Government Diederik (Dirk) Vandewalle studies the Middle East, and he is the author of A History of Modern Libya (Cambridge University Press, 2006). At Tuck, he is an adjunct associate professor, and he teaches a "mini-elective" course called "Doing Business in the Arab Gulf States." In this video he explains what's covered in his class (history, culture, patronage, sovereign wealth funds, Islamic finance). And he also talks about the relationship between politics and economics, and the impact that the recent uprisings in northern Africa might have on the six nations that make up the Gulf Cooperation Council: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
