Fannie Mae and Freddie…
What will taxpayers get in return for the government bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Very little, says John Vogel, a real estate expert at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Professor Vogel proposes turning Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into non-profit organizations because much of their downfall can be blamed on trying to meet shareholder expectations. Making Fannie and Freddie non-profits will allow them to focus on their core mission: to provide homeowners the best possible mortgage products at the lowest possible cost. At this time, we our country needs reliable, low-cost, mortgages more than ever.
