As a financial analyst, I knew I was close to the career path I wanted, but I was ready for options beyond finance. I needed the edge that an MBA would give me.

I spoke to people I knew who had gone to excellent business schools. I definitely envied their educations and knew I wanted that depth and breadth of knowledge, the strategic outlook, the ability to effectively manage heavy workloads. I knew I wanted a rigorous program and a top-tier degree.

But I was surprised by the variety in people's attitudes toward their years in B-school, by how many people seemed to think, "Yeah, I got through it. I checked it off." No one who went to Tuck talked like that. The Tuck alums all expressed this incredible passion and enthusiasm for the education, the vibrant community, the committed alumni network. I knew I wanted to be one of these people. I wanted to come to Tuck.

When you are admitted to Tuck, someone from the school calls you personally to let you know the good news. They wanted me to come here, not just applicant #976. Tuck already knew who I was.
