Getting an MBA was a natural transition for me after my experience in the military. I had successfully led soldiers in peacetime and in combat. But to succeed in corporate America, I needed to add a strong business foundation to that experience. Tuck was the ideal place to gain that foundation and learn new management techniques.
I wanted to acquire new skills. I wanted a career development office that would guide me through my transition. And I wanted a comfortable environment for my family. Tuck provided all that and more. It's hard to communicate the richness of the experience here—the ways it manifests itself are so varied.
Many elements of the Tuck MBA distinguish it from other top programs. At Tuck, team building is part of the curriculum from day one. Tuck identifies the different skill sets and backgrounds of incoming students and organizes study groups of five or six
people. These people will challenge you, enlighten you, and enhance your entire experience. This is how you begin to understand what collaborative leadership means.
My work at PepsiCo has been a direct application of everything I learned at Tuck, and I've made the transition from the military to a fantastic position in a large, multinational corporation. Tuck helped me not only achieve, but surpass, my goals.
