Before attending Tuck, I hadn't actually envisioned an international career. Now, as co-head of Alix European practice, I'm based in London and oversee operations throughout the United Kingdom, as well as Munich, Dússeldorf, and Milan.
At Tuck I experienced a program that was truly global. I benefited greatly from the emphasis on perspective. It's an important consideration that has proven crucial to my career. Having a sensitivity to adapting culturally has been very valuable to the firm and to myself.
The academic roundedness of a Tuck education has been another critical success element. The kind of crisis management that I specialize in requires that you be a generalist—I've been compared to an emergency room physician—because you have to know something about everything. I use my knowledge of finance, operations, human resources, marketing, even business law. Tuck gave me both the general management perspective and the hard functional skills.
