Corporate Citizenship
Business can shape the destiny of the world. And business managers face a range of challenges as they strive to be socially responsible leaders in the global marketplace. Which is why issues of corporate citizenship are a key part of the Tuck MBA experience.
Whether you envision a career in a major corporation, a startup, or an international NGO, Tuck prepares you for success.
ALLWIN INITIATIVE FOR CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP
Tuck's Allwin Initiative for Corporate Citizenship helps students to develop the knowledge and skills to manage increasingly complex interactions between business, governments, and the nonprofit sector.
Academic Work
In the popular Ethics in Action elective, discussions of ethical issues are led by strategy, economics, and marketing faculty. Other courses focused on business’s role in society include Corporate Social Responsibility, Leadership and Corporate Responsibility, Entrepreneurship in the Social Sector, Competition and Public Policy, Social Leadership, and Strategic Responses to Market Failure. Students can also work on independent study projects. International projects have involved NGOs in such countries as Bolivia, England, Tanzania, and South Africa.
Visiting Experts
The Allwin Initiative helps bring speakers to campus to discuss ethics, environmental sustainability, and corporate citizenship. Recent visitors include Dawn Hudson D’79, president and CEO, PepsiCola North America, on partnerships to combat childhood obesity; Patrick Gaston, president, Verizon Foundation, on its work in educational improvement; and Michael Chiu, former CEO, ACCION International, on new microfinance models.
Career Support
Tuck GIVES (Grants to Interns and Volunteers for the Environment and Society) provides financial support to Tuck students working in nonprofit and public-sector summer internships. The annual Tuck GIVES auction has raised more than $510,000 over the past seven years to sponsor internships. The Tuck Nonprofit Fellowship Program supports students who accept jobs in these sectors. Fellows have worked for such organizations as the Boston School District; City Year, Inc.; and the MBA Enterprise Corps in Tajikistan.
