The Healthcare Initiative

Today's healthcare managers face complex challenges of equity, effectiveness, and sustainability. Through forums, outreach, and consulting projects, The Healthcare Initiative enhances the classroom education and industry experience of Tuck students.

The fellows of the Healthcare Initiative are Kate Pettrone T'08, Duncan Reese T'08, and Mark Valkenburgh T'08.

The initiative brings together the expertise and resources of Tuck, Dartmouth's Center for the Evaluative Clinical Sciences, and Dartmouth Medical School to foster leadership and management solutions in healthcare. Each year, the initiative brings a range of industry leaders to campus for panel discussions and informal meetings with faculty and students. Recent visitors include:

In addition, senior managers from Pfizer, Merck, Genentech, Novartis, Biogen-Idec, Genzyme, and other major pharmaceutical manufacturers came to Hanover to exchange ideas with members of the Dartmouth Medical School and Tuck community. And the United Healthcare, Oxford Health Plans, and Aetna HMOs engaged student consulting services to develop new plans for reimbursement.

The initiative also sponsors conferences on industry-specific issues, such as the "Wall Street Solutions to Healthcare Challenges" conference at JPMorgan Chase, attended by brokers, bankers, and venture capitalists in New York City.
