So here we are-- my husband, Zach (T'14), just finished his first year at Tuck, my Facebook page is filled with photos of proud T'13s in their graduation caps and gowns, and a steady stream of moving trucks are coming through Sachem as many Tuckies, Partners, and families take off to their new homes. It's a bittersweet time, for sure-- so much excitement, happiness, and congratulations for amazing accomplishments achieved; so much sadness at having to say good-bye to amazing friends.
In a few days Zach leaves for his summer internship. His start date is a little later than most, and we've been trying to make the most of his free time by exploring more of our surroundings. He'll be spending his summer in one of the best cities in the US, yet he's told me more than a few times how jealous he is that the kids and I get to stay here in Hanover for the summer. There sure is a lot to do here. And, as I've mentioned once or twice (or a million times) before, it is so incredibly gorgeous around here. The Upper Valley is engulfed in green. I love taking road trips here because the views are always phenomenal-- green hills and trees as far as the eye can see.
One afternoon last week we made the small trek out to Royalton, VT (about 30 minutes away) to check out Worthy Burger, a newish burger (etc) joint Zach had heard many Tuckies raving about. We parked along the adorable little town square, then walked across the railroad tracks to the entrance of the restaurant. It had a great ambiance, and tasty food to boot. We will definitely be going back.
Over the weekend we made the longer drive to Burlington, VT (about 1hr 40mins) to take our kids to the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center on the waterfront. We lucked out with another stunning day. We walked along the water for a while (unfortunately, we had no Champ sightings), then spent the next several hours inside ECHO. The boys loved the current Bigger than T-Rex dinosaur exhibit (with a Giganotosaurus skeleton on display), along with the fish, frogs, and turtles in their tanks, and other exploratory exhibits.
