More Prep Advice

Over the last couple of weeks a few T’14s have asked me about the rigor of the first-year curriculum.  My response:  challenging and demanding but fun.  Yes, I said it, fun.  There will be some days that are hard but I recommend enjoying the ride.  I don’t think there is a need to get into a lot of detail about the first year curriculum because I think the new class will figure it out just fine.  My advice, however, is to keep it all in perspective.

 

When the days are tough, and long, try to remember the excitement you felt when you received your acceptance call.  If all else fails, there is also the excitement of not having to take the GMAT/GRE again. If you are still troubled, then just think, it could be worse.  You could be a second-year.  That’s right, second years will have a harder time compared to first-years.  Am I talking about the curriculum?  Not really.  I’m talking about parking.  Yes, parking.  Let me show you.

That’s right:  over 180 steps four or five days a week once or twice a day.  You do the math.  My hometown is at sea-level so this is going to give me altitude sickness.  The only thing that is going to get me through this climb day after day will be a dream.  One day I will run to class and as I’m about to start my climb hundreds of men, women, and children will be running behind me.  Once I get to the top, everyone will crowd around me chanting my name.  This will be so legendary that Tuck will have no choice but to remember that day with a statue:
