HANOVER, N.H. - On October 5 and 6, Women in Business at Tuck will hold their second annual conference on the Tuck School campus. The theme of this year's event, "Connections: Create them, develop them, support them," was created to recognize the importance of mentoring and the power of strong networks to a successful career.
According to Co-Chairs Sonali Aggarwal T'07 and Hilary Halper T'07, the goal of the conference is to encourage each woman—wherever she may be in her professional development—to discuss and develop the skills and mentor relationships necessary for her successful progression along her unique career and life path. Aggarwal says, "We tend to shy away from the word networking, and we hope to convey through the conference that networking involves connecting not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level." The conference aims to do this through a two-day program of meetings and workshops to discuss strategies to develop more powerful women business leaders.
An important goal of the conference is to reach out to Tuck alumnae and engage their support in mentoring current students and to reach out to prospective students to encourage their participation. This builds on Women in Business at Tuck's Alumnae Mentoring Program, a formal mentorship program developed to create a network to support and promote the growth of Tuck women academically, professionally, and personally.
Conference sponsors include a number of companies with strong interest in women's professional development: John Deere and Company is signed on as a platinum sponsor; Bain and Company, Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, PepsiCo, and UBS are gold sponsors of the event. Silver sponsors include The Boston Consulting Group, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JM Huber, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, The McGraw-Hill Companies, and The Parthenon Group. Eaton and PINK magazine are providing financial and in-kind sponsor support.
