HANOVER, N.H.—The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth’s India Business Conference on May 4 kicks off a new Tuck India Alliance, established to further educate the Tuck student body, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community members about the impact of India’s emergence in the global economy.

The ongoing Alliance will consist of several elements, including this annual conference; a series of podcasts syndicated through RSS feeds on iTunes, Yahoo podcasts, and other online channels; and articles and commentary covering recent business and social events and trends related to India. Podcasts, articles, and commentary will be available on the India Alliance website.

"India's emergence on the global scene is being reflected in the admissions, faculty, career development opportunities, and curriculum of business schools across the world," says Sumit Saxena T’07, a students organizer of the Alliance. "The Tuck India Alliance will bring together these elements and create a cross-disciplinary and cross-functional tool for educating students about doing business in India."

The Alliance will bring together faculty members, Tuck and Dartmouth institutions, and students to pursue activities to achieve its aims. The Alliance’s board will consist of three student members, along with permanent representatives from Tuck’s Career Development, Admissions, and MBA Program offices, and several Tuck faculty including Professor Andrew Bernard from Tuck’s Center for International Business, and Professors Vijay Govindarajan, Kevin Lane Keller, and Anant Sundaram.

The Tuck India Business Conference aims to inform U.S. and international business practitioners about practical strategies and methods to participate in and gain from the boom in the Indian economy. The event will feature a keynote speech by Thomas Verghese, director of emerging markets at GE Corporate, and senior panelists from Businessweek, Cosmos Ignite Innovations, Hyatt Group, Infosys Technologies, Pratham, Rediff.com, the U.S.–India Business Council, and W. L. Ross.

The Tuck India Business Conference is hosted by the school’s Center for International Business and the student-run Tuck India Alliance and sponsored by the Khosla Family Fund and the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding. The conference will be followed by a classical music program by featuring renowned instrumentalists from India.
