eBay president and CEO speaks at Tuck Investiture

HANOVER, N.H.—John Donahoe, Dartmouth alumnus and newly appointed president and CEO of eBay Inc, will be the keynote speaker at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth's Investiture ceremony on June 7.

This past January, eBay's board of directors unanimously chose Donahoe as president and CEO-elect of eBay Inc. He succeeds Meg Whitman, who stepped down from the role in March but remains on the board. In his new role, Donahoe has global responsibility for growing each of the company’s business units, which include eBay Marketplaces, PayPal, and Skype. He also joins eBay's board of directors.

Donahoe came on board with eBay in 2005 as president of Marketplaces, responsible for all elements of the companies global ecommerce businesses. In this role, he focused on expanding the core business, which accounts for a large percentage of the company's revenues. He also oversaw a number of strategic acquisitions, including Shopping.com and StubHub, and classifieds sites, such as Gumtree and LoQUo. During the three years he served as president of Marketplaces, revenues and profits for this division doubled.

Prior to eBay, Donahoe spent more than 20 years at Bain & Company, a worldwide consulting firm based in Boston. He rose to become the firm's CEO, where he oversaw Bain's 30 offices and 3,000 employees.

Donahoe received a bachelor of arts in economics from Dartmouth and serves Dartmouth's board of trustees.
