HANOVER, N.H.—Boasting one of the highest GDP growth rates in Asia, the Indian economy is among the most dynamic and vibrant in the world. The second annual Tuck India Business Conference on May 9 will bring together international business and thought leaders to explore opportunities offered by the world's second-most-populous nation. Hosted by Tuck's Center for International Business and the student-run Tuck India Alliance, the conference will be held on the Hanover, N.H. campus of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
"India has emerged as a major player in the global economy, and education about the country is critical for both MBA students and business leaders," says Andrew Bernard, director of the Center for International Business. "The strength of this conference series is that it examines the country not just from the economic perspective, but from the social and cultural perspectives as well, to prepare attendees in a comprehensive way to do business in the country."
Panel topics will be "Growth Beyond IT and Outsourcing: Mapping India's Future" and "Looking Outward: India's Progression in the New World Order." The panels will be comprised of executives from global firms, such as Siemens Venture Capital and Deutsche Bank.
The keynote speakers will be Arun K. Nanda, executive director and president of the infrastructure development sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Ron Somers, president of the U.S.-India Business Council. The lunchtime address will be given by Lutz Goedde T'97, the deputy director of global development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Conference attendees will experience India's rich culture with a lunchtime banquet of Indian food as well as a carnatic and jazz/world fusion music concert by Prasanna & Group to close out the day.
Conference sponsors include John Deere, PepsiCo, The Parthenon Group, The Khosla Family Fund, and The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College.
