HANOVER, N.H.—With the topic of women in politics in the news this election cycle, it is a fitting time for more discussion on women in business, who often face similar hurdles to their political counterparts. The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth will do just that at their annual Women in Business Conference, taking place October 3 and 4 on campus in Hanover, New Hampshire. This year's theme will be "Celebrating 40 years of Women at Tuck."
Organized by second-year Tuck students, the gathering will offer current students, alumni, and prospective students the chance to connect through both social activities and interactive educational panels. The Women in Business Conference strives to provide women with relevant, usable knowledge and insight, while also providing opportunities for them to establish bonds with one another.
Panel discussions will investigate a broad spectrum of topics germane to current businesswomen including mentorship, work-life balance, the glass ceiling, cross-gender communication, and career planning. The conference will offer mock classes for potential students and the occasion for all involved to network over evening cocktails.
Carla Harris, currently the managing director in Global Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley, will deliver the keynote address and impart wisdom she has acquired through her unconventional career journey. Additional conference speakers include Christina Morrison T'93, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Wyeth and Noreen Doyle T'74, former chief operating officer at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
"We are thrilled to be hosting an impressive lineup of Tuck alumnae as well as our keynote speaker Carla Harris at our 2008 conference," commented conference co-chairs Jill Cohen T'09 and Erin Breslin T'09. "The conference theme, Celebrating 40 Years of Women at Tuck, will not only help us connect prospective, current and graduated Tuck women but will also facilitate lively discussion about key issues facing women in the modern business environment."
Conference sponsors include Morgan Stanley and Bain at the gold level, as well as HIMCO, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Corning, Parthenon, Genentech, and General Mills at the silver level.
