Health Care Reform: Lessons from the Netherlands and Europe
Like the United States and many other countries around the world, the Netherlands has faced the challenge of rapidly increasing healthcare costs. In 2006, the country introduced comprehensive reforms aimed at achieving universal, high-quality health coverage while controlling costs. Although problems still remain, the reforms have achieved many successes; in 2013 the Netherlands’ healthcare system was ranked #1 among 35 European nations by the Euro Health Consumer Index, and it has been held up as a model for the U.S.
This course will be taught at TIAS School for Business at Society, a top business school in Europe based at Tilburg University in Tilburg, the Netherlands. The TIAS faculty teaching this course will expose participants to the Dutch and other European health care systems and allow them to compare different approaches to shared healthcare challenges in the Netherlands and the U.S.
