The Upper Valley in Full Bloom

By Marcy H. TP'14

It's been sunny and in the 70's for a full week now, and the local flora is most definitely taking advantage of all this glorious warmth and sunshine-- every day I see more green as trees sprout new leaves, and flowers are blooming everything.  I am in awe of how quickly the landscape transforms itself with each season. There's only one other place I've lived where I spent so much of my day-to-day driving time just marveling at the beauty of the scenery I passed by, and that was in Switzerland.

We've swapped out our hats, coats, and hot chocolate for shorts, flip flops, and iced lattes. Suddenly our weekends are filling up with BBQs and there's talk of water play and swimming holes, as summer feels like it's right around the corner.  And with more than a bit of shock I realize that, yes, it is right around the corner-- Zach only has a few short weeks of classes left before his first year is officially done. Are we really already almost halfway through our time here? As I hear many T/P'13s say how heartbroken they are about leaving this place I can't help but think ahead to next spring and know we'll feel the same way. But we still have another year to go-- and plan to make the most of it.
