Leadership Programs

Some people may be natural-born leaders. But wait till you see what they're capable of after two years at Tuck.

Leadership development is central to Tuck's mission. The skills our students need to be the best come from the entire Tuck experience—from core courses and electives, study groups, clubs, student activities, and the Career Development Office.

Tuck students learn management theories, principles, and analytical methods required to understand and execute effective business practices—as both an individual and a member of a team.

Cohen Leadership Development Program

Leadership, as defined by Tuck's Jonathan L. Cohen D'60, T'61 Leadership Development Program, is the ability to inspire others to strive and enable them to accomplish great things. The program ensures that Tuck students graduate empowered to do just that—and to feel responsible for being a leader in the world.

The program's premise is that all students at Tuck have leadership potential that, with proper nurturing, can be drawn out. It's not an original concept—all the leading business schools tout leadership initiatives—but several features set Tuck's program apart:

  • It's tightly connected to the first-year core curriculum and especially to the Leading Organizations course—taught by Professors Judith White and Ella Bell.
  • It ensures that every student gets individual coaching designed to bring out unique leadership strengths.
  • It's multifaceted. In addition to coursework and coaching, the program includes self-assessment, peer assessment, goal-setting, design and implementation of personal leadership development plans, a leadership speaker series, career development, and more.
