Shopping in the area

By Claire B. TP14

"The nearest Target is an hour away, and the nearest Bed Bath and Beyond is an hour and fifteen minutes!!" How ever is one supposed to move into a new place without these two staples??  I remember hearing those distances and thinking our move to Tuck would be a nightmare.

Imagine my surprise when we discovered just how much in the way of shopping is actually quite close to campus (most within one town of Hanover).  Allow me to create a mall-like directory for you to demonstrate all that exists:

  • Groceries: Shaw's, Price Chopper, and Hannaford (all in West Lebanon); three Co-op food storesbetween Hanover, Lebanon, and White River Junction; not to mention the multitude of seasonal farmers markets
  • Home and Kitchen: Main Street Kitchens in Hanover, Hanover True Value, Home Depot, Walmart, Kmart, Pier 1 Imports, Sears, BJ's, Board and Basket, Joann Fabrics
  • Retail: J. Crew (coming soon to Hanover!), Gap Factory Outlet, Kohl's, JCPenney, TJMaxx, L.L. Bean, Talbot's, Payless Shoes, and Hanover boutiques like Bella and Indigo
  • Electronics: Best Buy, Staples, Verizon Wireless, GameStop
  • Office: Staples, UPS, CVS
  • Outdoors/Sporting goods: Mountain Goat of Hanover, North Face, Eastern Mountain Sports, L.L. Bean, Golf and Ski Warehouse, Stateline Sports
  • Pets: West Lebanon Feed and Supply, Lebanon Pet and Aquarium Center
  • Seasonal/costumes (costumes are big at Tuck): iParty, Costumania

Prior to coming to Tuck, Will and I had only ever rented apartments in mid-rise buildings, which meant we'd never decorated the exterior of our place for holidays.  Now that we're past Thanksgiving, the seasonal decor is coming out up here and I wanted to take part!  Needless to say, I was fully able to find everything I needed among the above retail options to decorate the front porch 😊
