Tuck’s 2015 - 2016 Essay Questions

While the application won't go live until later this summer, here's a sneak peak of the essay questions. Each year, we refine our application to reflect what we see as the best way to get to know you and understand your story. As a result, we've made a few changes to this year's questions, so please read carefully.

Remember, the essays are your opportunity to share with us who you are beyond the numbers and the resume, so reflect, take your time, and be genuine. You want to think carefully about your content as well as delivery; you need to communicate clearly and in your voice, not who you think we want you to be; and most importantly, answer the question you are asked.

Please respond fully but concisely to the following essay questions. There are no right or wrong answers. We encourage applicants to limit the length of their responses to 500 words for each essay. Please double-space your responses.

1. What are your short- and long-term goals? Why do you need an MBA to achieve those goals? Why are you interested in Tuck specifically?

2. Tell us about your most meaningful leadership experience and what role you played. How will that experience contribute to the learning environment at Tuck?

3. (Optional) Please provide any additional insight or information that you have not addressed elsewhere that may be helpful in reviewing your application (e.g., unusual choice of evaluators, weaknesses in academic performance, unexplained job gaps or changes, etc.). Complete this question only if you feel your candidacy is not fully represented by this application.

4. (To be completed by all reapplicants) How have you strengthened your candidacy since you last applied? Please reflect on how you have grown personally and professionally.

Hello Admissions Team,

I am planning to apply to Tuck this year in the Early Action round. I already hold a Post Graduate Degree in Management from Indian School of Business Hyderabad. Am I eligible to apply to Tuck in EA? Do I need to explain why I need an MBA in addition to the post graduate degree I got in India?

Dear Prashant,

Thank you for your comment. Tuck will not accept applications from individuals who have already earned an MBA. We consider the Post Graduate Diploma In Management (PGDM) from Indian universities to be the equivalent of an MBA and typically do not admit applicants who already hold such a degree. If you hold a similar graduate degree, but not an MBA, from another country, we will consider your application; however, you must provide us with an additional essay explaining why you need an MBA in addition to your current degree. Please let us know if we can assist you further.
