Course Description

The learning objective of the China GIX is to understand the Chinese economy through the lens of artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven innovation. This experiential learning journey will involve visits to companies and educational institutions situated in two of China’s most vibrant economic regions: the Yangtze River Delta (including Shanghai and Hangzhou) and the Pearl River Delta (including Shenzhen and Guangzhou). These regions hold strategic importance in China’s journey of economic advancement and serve as tech hubs for both established firms (e.g., Alibaba, Tencent) and cutting-edge startups and incubators (e.g. DeepRoute.ai, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology). We will have the opportunity to directly interact with a diverse range of professionals, including engineers, entrepreneurs, students, and researchers. Through discussions and debates, we will develop an understanding of the driving forces behind data-driven innovation and entrepreneurship in the nation, as well as the challenges shaping the digital economy landscape.
