Last weekend was this year's much-anticipated Admitted Students Weekend. It was a little strange and a lot exciting to see the "Welcome Class of 2015" banner up on the Tuck building. Zach was on campus on Friday to help welcome the prospective T'15s during registration, and then Saturday was a full day of ASW fun. First was the Diversity Breakfast, where we got to know a few prospective students and partners and helped lead our table's discussion on "Things I Wish I'd Known Before Starting at Tuck" (examples ranged from "Bring any and all costumes!" and "Seriously, get yourself a good pair of snow boots" to "The community here really is a close-knit as everyone says it is"). A little later that morning was the Couplehood at Tuck panel, where several of us current Tuck Partners chatted with about 50 prospective TPs about what life is like here at Tuck for those of us who aren't students (the short-short version: it's pretty awesome). After that was the International Lunch, which for me was the highlight of both last year's and this year's ASW-- a massive feast of table after table of delicious food spanning the globe, all prepared by current students representing their home countries. It's a pretty incredible (and oh so yummy) testament to the diversity of our community.
Later that afternoon we headed back to Sachem Village, where a couple of TP'13s and I lead tours of our great little housing community and did our best to answer questions about what it's like to live here (the short-short version: again, it's pretty awesome). That was the end of the festivities for me, but that evening Zach got to watch the Tuck bands perform and volunteered with SafeRides for the night. Last but not least, Sunday morning was the Big Gay Brunch put on by the Gay-Straight Alliance.
It is so strange to think of half the Tuck community changing over, with the T/P'13s leaving this summer and a whole new crop of T/P'15s joining us in the fall... but it's also really exciting. We had a great time welcoming the prospectives last weekend, and look forward to getting to know everyone better in the fall!
