Testing Protocols for Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks

November 10, 2021

Dear T’22s and T’23s,

In preparation for the coming Thanksgiving break and the beginning of winter break, below please find details about testing availability and expectations upon return to campus.

Consistent with our previous arrival protocols, we will ask that all students test—and receive a negative result—before returning to in-person class following break.

There is a remote learner system available via the “My Courses” page of TuckConnect for those who need to register as a remote class participant while awaiting a test result. Registering as a remote learner in this system will list your name on a report available to your faculty and appropriate support staff. Students who register for this category affirm that they are doing so per public health guidance. Registering as a remote learner for any other reason is a violation of the Tuck Honor Principle. Students must return to the registration page and “opt out” of this category when public health guidance permits them to do so.

THANKSGIVING BREAK TESTING FOR T’23s AND T’22s PARTICIPATING IN DECEMBER MINIS

Drop box testing will open Monday at 7:30 a.m. and will close on Wednesday, November 24 at 9:00 a.m. of Thanksgiving week. There will be no drop box testing available on Thursday, November 25 or Friday, November 26.

Drop box testing will resume Saturday, November 27 and will be available 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. There will also be in-person observed testing offered at Tuck on Sunday, November 28 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.

Saturday drop box testing is the best option for returning to class in-person on Monday, November 29. Sunday test results will likely be returned on Tuesday, November 30.

From Saturday, November 27 – Friday, December 24, we will return to routine testing hours and locations on campus. Community members coming to campus during this period will continue to be required to test once per week. Community members with vaccine exemptions will continue to be required to test twice per week.

WHAT TO ANTICIPATE FOR WINTER BREAK RETURN

Testing services on campus will be closed Friday, December 24 – Sunday, December 26, reopening Monday, December 27. For the New Year holiday, testing will be closed on Friday, December 31 – Saturday, January 1. The first day on-campus testing is open following the holiday and return from break is Sunday, January 2.

The College is currently working to make mail-in testing (known as vault testing) available to students during break. This is testing that you can participate in remotely, before returning to campus. More details about this testing option will be shared in the following days.

Again, consistent with our previous arrival protocols, we will ask that all Tuck students test—and receive a negative result—before returning to in-person class following winter break.

Specific to “arrival protocol” for winter break, Dartmouth will require:

Testing hours in the days immediately following break will be:

Sunday, January 2, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Monday, January 3, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

We will provide more details about the mail-in testing option during winter break in the days to come. Please take good care during these upcoming breaks and let us know if you have any questions.
