Updated Testing Hours and Contact Tracing

August 19, 2021

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

Thanks to colleagues at Dick’s House and Axiom Medical, additional COVID testing hours have been added for tomorrow, Friday, August 20, and Saturday, August 21. Testing hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. You may schedule a test here

Routine surveillance testing takes place inside the Hopkins Center at the Courtyard Café. Testing for contact tracing is appointment based and occurs at a drive-through testing site behind the Hopkins Center.  If you are identified as a potential close contact to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 on campus, you will receive a contact-tracing email. Dick’s House continues to handle contact tracing for student COVID cases, and Axiom Medical continues to handle contact tracing for Dartmouth employees.

The procedural guidance for contact tracing has changed slightly from earlier this week. For those who are contact traced:

If you are notified from contact tracers of a possible exposure, your first test should take place 48-72 hours after you are notified. You are permitted to test sooner, but the test that will be needed to access in-person classes or co-curricular offerings must take place no sooner than 48 hours after notification of possible exposure. The test taken 48 hours after exposure will be considered your “Day 1 test.”

Contact-traced persons will take a second test between Day 5 and Day 7, following the same testing protocol – calling to make an appointment and testing at the outdoor drive-through site behind the Hopkins Center.

If you are contact traced and have already tested within the last 48 hours, consider that previous test your Day 1 test, and test again two days later (which should be Day 5 – 7 after exposure).

Students who are considered at higher risk (prolonged exposure, indoors without mask) will receive a phone call from Dick's House.

We will continue to provide updates as public health guidance and conditions evolve. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you,

Paul and Vincent
