Tuck Outdoor Trips are backpacking/cabin camping trips through the natural areas around Dartmouth. Particiapants will carry their food, gear, and clothes with them as they hike up to nine miles a day between Dartmouth Outing Club Cabins. This is a wonderful way to get to know your classmates as you plan your day, cook your meals together, overcome challenges, celebrate accomplishments, and have fun! Backpacking equipment is avaialable upon request.

Fees

The cost for an Outdoor Trip is $650.00.

This fee covers all group equipment, meals, transportation, and the services of a professional outdoor guide.

Applications for these trips are due on June 5 by 5PM ET. You will be notified if you received a spot by June 11 and will have until June 14 to accept or decline the spot. Once you accept, you will be charged for the program.

How to Apply

Submit the Pre-Term Programs Application to the MBA Program Office by June 5. Also submit the Trip Questionnaire which provides trip organizers with key information about your experiences and preferences. Students of all ability levels are encouraged to apply. Trip leaders use this information to divide participants into groups with similar levels of experience in the outdoors.

Applications received after June 5 at 5PM ET will be placed on a waitlist.

Health Insurance During Tuck Outdoor Trips

To participate in the Outward Bound Program, you must be covered by health insurance. Information about Dartmouth Student Group Health Plan (DSGHP) will be mailed to you in June. This insurance coverage will be effective August 1, 2024, so students must be covered by private insurance before then. If you are trying to waive out of DSGHP, please have the paperwork completed in July (because if you need medical treatment during a pre-term program and an insurance claim is submitted through DSGHP, you would be automatically enrolled in DSGHP for the academic year).

On-Campus Housing and Check-In

Please monitor your email throughout the summer for updates.

What to Wear and Bring

These are outdoor, overnight trips and you will need appropriate clothing. A complete packing guide will be sent to you when you sign-up.

Transportation

Once your trip starts, all transportation to and from hiking and camping sites will be provided by the program.
